The Evolution of Designer Purses
Bags have evolved from being a carrier of goods to a fashion statement. Bags were originally made from animal skin which was crudely sewn together. It was not at all fashionable; it was only an item used to carry food, tools etc. Originally it was a necessity for hunters and gatherers who used it to store different kinds of things. They were hung around the waist with the help of drawstrings. These bags were handmade and were strong enough to carry around stuff; beauty was not a part of their design.
In the mid-nineteenth century women carried little purses which were tied around their waists. These purses were mesh embroidered and practically had no function at all. They were so small that they couldn’t carry anything which was big or heavy and at times they even revealed the contents. They generally adorned the lavish girdles that women wore at that time. It was only lower class women who carried big handbags hanging down their shoulders. It was only in the 1860’s that the first leather handbags were produced.
Later designer purses were introduced in the fashion world which had ladies all from all over the world swoon over them. These are stylish and highly durable. If you have a Prada or a Gucci purse in your collection you stand a class apart. Though there are designer inspired purses available in the market, the original ones are unparalleled. They are time tested and can be used year after year.
A designer purse displays the name, signature or logo on itself. These are so popular that even during recession heir demand has not decreased. True, that these are highly expensive and why not, keeping in mind their durability and quality! These are usually made of pure leather of different varieties. Snake skin, ostrich skin and goat skin is used the manufacturing of these products. Each designer has his own signature style and it is reflected in their products.
But these days, cheap replicas are also manufactured. They are copies of the original branded ones and are made of cheap quality material which is loosely stitched. They also bear a cheap replica of the brand logo and are inexpensive. Buying such bags and manufacturing them are illegal and almost all brands are legally working to try and stop such counterfeits. On the other hand there are inspired purses, which are to some extent similar to the branded ones. They are made of good quality material and do not bear the logo of any brand. They are not as expensive as the branded ones yet they are very good.
